There are quite a few definitions and representations of the word herbalist. One might decide to call themselves a green witch or maybe a kitchen witch. You might want to get fancy and call yourself an Herbal Connoisseur. You’re a massage therapist. A full-time stay-at-home mom. No matter what one decides to call themselves, we can agree that herbs heal. They heal from the inside out. Ever since I was a young woman, I believed that alternative methods of medicine were more beneficial then taking a pill every day.

And let this be a disclaimer that my intention is to never malign western medicine or practice. I strongly believe that it has a rightful place in society and can do things no herbalist can do but…

I do believe in the power of plant medicine. I’ve witnessed it transform and empower lives. I’ve used it to heighten my own power and magick works. My belief and hope at Rose and Ritual is that people can start to be more proactive and empowered in their own holistic well-being and grow in understanding of the many facets to themselves. These facets or pieces all contribute to the whole being - the Self.

We’ll be tackling herbalism through the lens of the chakras. The seven chakras are the main energy centers of the body. When all of our chakras are open, energy can run through them freely, and harmony exists between the physical body, mind, and spirit. Chakra translates to "wheel" in Sanskrit, and you can imagine them like wheels of free-flowing positive energy.

You’ll also be building your Materia Medica. Each month, you’ll be assigned a small variety of herbs to research and collect information on. Notecards or a notebook (dedicated to your material medica) is your best bet in building your book.

If you’re ready, click the intro module to get started on Herbal Concepts & Chakras! At the bottom of each module is a form to submit any questions you may have for me. Good luck!
