What are emetics?

Emetic herbs induce vomiting and help to empty the stomach. Emetic herbs are rarely used in modern times. Their main use is used in first aid in treatment towards poisoning when emptying the stomach is paramount.

• Ginger(Zingiber officinale) (in high doses)

• Lobelia (Lobelia inflata)

• Ipecac (Cephaelis ipecacuahana)
